Americano
Oscar de la Renta offered a bit of a mariachi vibe in his resort 2012 collection. Plenty of polka dots on black and white pieces, patchwork patterns, some leather, some tulle, heavy on the ruffles, and let's not forget the knock-out gowns that de la Renta is king of. All in lady-like cut dresses, jackets, and skirts, but done up in the color of passion itself - red.

Quick Trip
Bottega Veneta's resort 2012 collection offered up plenty of coats, oversized bags, and relaxed dresses in array of colors from black to neutrals to a series of sucker punch brights, many in a two-tone form. And if the dresses became too loose for a night out, a belt or corset at the waste pulled many looks all in. Appropriate for a vacation these pieces were obviously created for.

Sailor Moon
Cool Summer
Chanel's Resort 2012 collection. I love the deconstructed and relaxed versions of past looks that were featured in this collection. Perfect for the summertime weather, but what remains always is Chanel's stiff upper lip.

Celebrating some of my favorite looks from the Met Gala. The theme was Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, which is the name of the exhibit chronicling his iconic career. Although a few of these ladies went for it, I was a bit disappointed that most avoided the theme entirely. But it didn't stop them from being beautiful.
