The Academy Is
THE BEST
Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen, everything just worked
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford, rocking that damn cape
Rooney Mara in Givenchy HC, my beautiful, structured ice princess
Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton, that color with her skin/hair...too perfect
Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab HC, STUNNING
THE GREAT
Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace, Cameron Diaz in Gucci Premiere, Ellie Kemper in Armani Privé
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad HC, Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji, Meryl Streep in Lanvin
Penélope Cruz in Giorgio Armani, Stacy Keibler in Marchesa, Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood
THE GOOD
Anna Faris in Diane von Furstenberg, Bérénice Bejo in Elie Saab HC, Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli HC
Leslie Mann in Roberto Cavalli, Natalie Portman in vintage Christian Dior, Sandra Bullock in Marchesa
Tina Fey in custom Carolina Herrera, Viola Davis in Vera Wang, Judy Greer in Monique Lhuillier
THE BAD
Kristen Wiig in J. Mendel, Maya Rudolph in custom Johanna Johnson, Shailene Woodley in Valentino HC
Melissa McCarthy in custom Marina Rinaldi, Wendi McClendon-Covey in Simin HC
The Oscars this year were filled with white hot looks, reds & deep blues to blacks. While some chose to look like the Oscar statue themselves, most played it safe. I did fall in love with Gwyneth's cape though & I felt Michelle Williams stepped out of her comfort zone a bit. Sequins were in abundance as were strapless gowns to long sleeves. Jessica Chastain wowed me in McQueen with amazing hair and makeup to match. As for the not-so-great, 4/6 of the Bridesmaids did not pull off their looks. I love Shailene's Valentino dress, but it aged her way too much. Here's to next year's awards season!
